Steven D. Edwards is the President and CEO of CoxHealth. The organization has been recognized as a Top 100 Integrated healthcare system 7 years in a row, and has been recognized by US News and World Report, Healthgrades and CareChex as the best hospital in Southwest Missouri.

Edwards, since beginning his career at CoxHealth more than 20 years ago, has served in a number of roles including Executive Vice President/COO, Vice President of Clinical Services, Senior Vice President for Regional Services, and Senior Vice President for Hospital Services.  In addition, he served as a grounds crew attendant and emergency department orderly during high school and college.

Prior to returning to CoxHealth in 1992, Mr. Edwards worked at Baylor University Medical Center, and Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

He is currently a Board of Directors member for: the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks, Voluntary Hospitals of America, Missouri Hospital Association, Mid-America Service Solutions, Springfield-Greene County Health Commission, Drury University and Burrell Center.

Edwards is a 2015 inductee of Springfield Public Schools Hall of Fame. He received his undergraduate degree from Drury University, a Masters in Healthcare Administration from Washington University School of Medicine, and completed a post graduate fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
